Big Lu has been training people for 48 years, beginning in 1977 at Powerhouse Gym in Highland Park. Over the decades, he has worked with high school athletes, college students, professionals, celebrities, and everyday people who want to improve their lives.

At 80 years old, Big Lu still lifts heavy and pushes himself physically, showing clients what’s possible at any age. His workouts are never about just giving orders—he demonstrates the effort, resilience, and mindset that drive real transformation.

For Big Lu, fitness goes beyond muscles. He focuses on building confidence, mental toughness, and spirit. He teaches, inspire, and help people see themselves in new and empowering ways, always striving to bring out the best in each person.

Big Lu was born and raised in Detroit, and has trained countless people from his community. He understands the culture, the challenges, and the needs of this city. He's built a reputation for direct, personal communication that’s always positive and respectful.

Adaptability & Resilience

After surviving serious injuries, including a car crash, Big Lu fought his way back to strength. That resilience fuels his coaching and inspires others to overcome their own setbacks. He's trained clients from all backgrounds, athletic levels, and ages—never limiting himself to “just elites” or “just beginners.”
